As was announced last week, the PDF Association elected a new Board of Directors for 2022-2024 at its annual All-Member meeting which followed PDF Days Europe in Berlin. We are extremely proud that iText’s Chief Technology Officer, Raf Hens, was chosen as the Board’s new Chair. He replaces the outgoing Chair, Matt Kuznicki, who has led the Board for the last six years.
Raf has been with iText since 2012, joining as a senior software engineer. He then became director of engineering, overseeing the technical and product roadmaps of iText’s technology. Subsequently, he set up the product management department which became responsible for the positioning of the core iText 7 PDF library and the development of its suite of add-on modules. In addition, this department oversaw the development of iText’s collaborative document solutions iText DITO, and also iText pdf2Data.
In 2020, Raf was appointed our CTO, and oversees the Research, Development, Product Management, and IT departments at iText. He is responsible for driving the technological direction of the company, keeping iText true to its roots in the open-source community.
“The Board of Directors anticipates an exciting and dynamic period for the PDF community," said Raf. "We will be working to deepen the organization's commitment to documenting and enhancing PDF technology through specifications, ISO standards development and the expansion of technical resources for our members and the PDF technology ecosystem,” he said.
We are honored that the Board members have recognized Raf’s PDF expertise and are looking forward to continuing iText’s work with the PDF Association over the coming years. We are excited to see how the PDF Association will further the future developments in both PDF technology and specifications. In addition, we always enjoy attending their annual PDF Days events, with this year being possibly the best yet!
