For this release, we've carried out some essential housekeeping to make sure that we maintain our high code quality standards, and great API documentation. In particular, we fixed a number of Javadoc warnings related to fonts in the kernel module, and also some miscellaneous kernel Javadoc errors. We improved the Javadocs for EventCounterHandler
and revised and updated the Javadocs for PdfCanvas
.
You can expect similar updates and improvements to the equivalent .NET documentation as well.
Also included in iText 7.1.9 is a usability improvement to object streams in the kernel module, meaning that if an object is read from the object stream, released, and reread again, this will no longer cause all objects contained in this object stream to be reinitialized from scratch, possibly losing any modifications that were already made.
We also had time to introduce some more cool features, such as enhanced text extraction, better left-to-right (LTR) text direction when pdfCalligraph is used together with pdfHTML, improved SVG support and a bunch of XFA improvements (XFA is dead, long live XFA!). pdf2Data also has some pretty cool nuggets, such as improved table extraction strategies and the ability to seamlessly extract data from protected documents.
This release fixes a number of bugs and also adds numerous improvements, which you can find here.
That's all from us for now, see you next time!
