The new PDF standard ISO 32000-2:2017 (PDF 2.0) has been published online! 2017 DZone Guide to Java
If you believe the number of articles online, you might be inclined to believe that Java is dying, but we all know better. While the release of Java 9 and Java EE 8 have been delayed, the excitement and passion of the Java community remains strong, proven by groups like the Java EE Guardians, who formed to push Oracle to commit to improvements for Java EE. This energy is not just a result of complacent developers failing to leave behind a stagnant language. New JVM technologies like the Kotlin language are making incredible waves in the industry, and Java itself has been encouraging the...
Ghent, Belgium, April 25, 2017 – Developers now are able to partner with leading PDF library company, iText Software, to market add-ons to iText 7. The iText 7 Platform allows software developers to create add-ons, while iText provides international sales and marketing support. With this “outside-in” way of innovation, iText expands the functionality of its core iText 7 engine to respond to specific customer requirements. This relationship also provides the development community with revenue sharing opportunities and access to the commercial market. “We’ve received countless requests for...
As you may or may not know, at events and exhibitions, iText is often accompanied by an army of Lego minifigs that carry our logo. Recently, we've also adopted three so-called "superfigs", oversized Lego figures, to serve as mascots in our three home bases (Ghent, Boston and Singapore). We let the public select their names from a shortlist, and voting ended on September 15. With all votes collected (thanks, voters!), their names are now known: Boston Boy (orange cap) is now named Ringo! Look around for him at US events or when you pay a visit to the Boston office! The jury...

JAXenter's Geertjan Wielinga sat down with iText founder and CSO Bruno Lowagie to talk PDF libraries, and more specifically iText 7 . Bruno is hyping iText 7 for its "new architecture that allows us to meet a lot of our other customer requests at the same time. For instance, EverNote is a customer that uses iText on Android, that reached the implementation limits of iText and so they’ll also benefit from the new architecture, which is more modular, enabling the user to select which parts they want to use. We cleaned up the API, in the past it wasn...

The European Business Awards announced their winners in each of the 33 participating countries for National Public Champions, and for Belgium, this was iText! We like to think of it a little like the Eurovision Song Contest but without the kitsch and the ludicrous hair, replaced with innovation and successful growth for European companies (but we do think our hair is looking pretty nice today). This honor gets iText, who defeated nine other Belgian companies, into the second round where it will run against the other National Public Champions for the European Public Champion title. “We owe...
